Bought to have my music in my pocket without having to change my smartphone to increase the memory space, but also to preserve its battery.
The pros:
- removable memory card, up to 512 GB
- compact and robust-looking device
- good sound quality, with a good volume adjustment range, whether in Bluetooth or wired
- battery life (at least when it's new! to be seen over time)
What could be improved:
- navigation in the menus
- memorization of the track currently playing, after turning off the device, in order to resume where you left off
- a belt support accessory would be nice to propose. The case offered is good for transport, but not practical when using it.
- a removable battery to be able to be replaced in the future (sustainability is becoming fashionable!)
I have been searching for a mid-priced Digital Audio Player to replace a failing Sony model for months and thought I would give the H20 a go. I have only had it for a few weeks but once you get over the slightly quirky interface it is very easy to use and the sound quality is way beyond expectations.
I am particularly pleased that it can play so many different formats including ancient non DRM WMA files. I rarely use Bluetooth but it has worked on a couple of systems I've tried.
There are quirks - you can only have one root folder on the SD card or the database won't complete the scan. I have separated Classical, Rock and Audiobooks so had to have a parent folder called Music first then the database scan could all the hundreds of sub-folders. Also, the equaliser is over-complicated.
I don't see the ROOT folder for the device when I connect to a PC just the SD card. That might limit my ability to upgrade the firmware in the future but it has the latest version.
Overall, hugely impressive.
I was looking for a portable Hi-Res music player that was capable of transmitting ldac over Bluetooth for my Mark Levinson headphones. This player does the job and the sound quality is excellent for the price. I'd give this 5 stars if the user interface was a little more refined, but it was the sound quality I was looking for and this has it. Thoroughly recommended.
Loving it! Sounds excellent. I'm a music lover wondering why I just wasn't as passionate about the experience anymore.. Spent the last many years listening to streaming services via bluetooth, mainly out of convenience and perhaps some laziness. Came from the era of vinyl, cassettes and cd's and experienced what I saw as a mass commodification of music during the mid 2000's, which brought with it the reduction in the quality of the listing experience in the form of file compression. I'd begun realizing that music had lost its energizing quality to me, and I needed to figure out why. The modern establishment seems to want to funnel me towards subscriptions, advertisement and non-ownership of the music that I listen to.. For me, this DAP is the step in the right direction that I sorely needed.. I loaded the HiFi Walker's SD card up with high quality rips of some favorite albums and am thoroughly enjoying the listening experience. The H20 Pro sounds absolutely awesome running into my car and home stereo setup.
