My old player is a Cowon D from 2016, which had the advantage of a long playback time of up to 70 hours.
It was also quite small and handy, great for vacations.
But the battery is starting to fail.
Therefore, I spent a long time looking for an affordable Hi-Res player with a long playback time.
I found one here.
The sound is fine for me.
I listen to a lot of audiobooks, but I also enjoy music.
My in-ear headphones (Kiwi Ears Quintet) are driven at surprisingly high volume.
The sound is clear and clean for me.
Good menu navigation.
I've found a successor... but it's significantly heavier, so I'd like to deduct half a star.

H2O Ultra review

I've had the unit about a week, It is a very solid piece of equipment. Firstly, I am totally impressed, I had an IPOD Classic for years and this unit sounds way better, it is crisp, and clear and has a great headphone preamp and streams really well thru my Yamaha 90 watt receiver. The programming took a little time to get used to but I am loving it now. I really like the touch screen, it is quick and responsive, but the unit also has buttons on the right side for most functions which is really nice. The fact that it has a volume wheel give it the best of both worlds. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone that loves music on the go and wants top notch sound and functionality.

Pure sound. But you'll need proper reproductive equipment

This player is the source for real sound. Only if you pair with proper output.

What I imagined smartphones would be like today

I don't know where to begin, but l'll just start by saying l hate the loss of quality that came from the
convenience of Bluetooth.
My wired earbuds from 15 years ago sound better than most wireless earbuds that run you for 5x as much,
and this is simply because we've shifted towards convenience over quality.
This device however takes you back to a time where sound mattered, and lets you actually use your lEMs
and lowish impedance headphones to their full capacity.
On top of that, they have the modern wireless headphone features that you should come to expect
