Give a teenage boy a lug wrench and his interest will turn to cars. Before he can cruise Main St. on a Friday night there has to be music. A 1950's AM car radio had tubes, weighed about 8 pounds and was over 14" long. Perhaps the coolest addition was a 'REVERB Kit' (sorry kids, you will have to look that one up!)

Life brought 8 tracks, cassettes, boom boxes and the Walkman. Imagine, an FM radio and tape player all-in-one. The real advance was brought to life in the form of an iPod. 1000 songs at your fingertips. It lasted more than 20 years -

When it was time to say goodby to my old friend I looked for one that would be (with headphones) a close match to the sound of my living room equipment.

Nothing portable can come close to the sounds of Mcintosh amp & preamp, Bowers & Wilkins speakers, and a Marantz 6300 turntable, and no one should expect it to.

I am a runner - my kit needs to be lightweight and reliable. That the H20 Ultra is also beautiful is truly the ribbon on the package! I wear Bone Conducting Bluetooth Headphones so I can hear outside of the music.

In terms of cost the H20 Ultra is about mid BUT, the sound quality is vastly superior to many in the upper price brackets.

I'd have no problems recommending this and would indeed purchase this again!

I have owned many DACs and digital players since 1996, and the HIFI WALKER H20 Ultra is hands down the best and quietest player I have ever heard. It reproduces music with such purity and clarity that it turns familiar tracks into a whole new experience. On one track, I heard a tiny musical element for the first time--standing out like a crystal of sound, separate from the layers of music.

The H20 Ultra is a sharp, precise musical scalpel. It cuts into a media file to free the music, exposing every note and nuance against a backdrop of 'black silence.' Built like a tank with a military-grade aluminum case, the high-definition touchscreen makes album art look stunning.

It features the proven ES9038Q2M DAC chip, implemented at the highest level to deliver clean, undistorted sound. It plays every type of high-resolution file in my library without a problem and even serves as a high-end sound card for my computer via USB-C. This player reminds me that listening to music should be fun again. It is never the weakest link in any high-quality audio system.

Excellent unit

I have owned about 5 DAPs under $250 and this the best. Most highly-defined audio and I always use the cheapest Sony earbuds.
Occasional computer glitches occur, but I guess that is unavoidable.
